Re-live the excitement of the first Shivan attack on Ross 128. First released as a single mission for Descent: FreeSpace, this has been converted using the FSPort to be compatible with FreeSpace 2. It features full voice acting. [hr] [b]Background[/b] While there have been quite a few missions that take place during the Shivan attack on Ross 128, I haven't seen many that try to recreate what actually takes place in the cutscene. The best mission I've seen so far is Ben Adams's H.E.S. - GW S.1. (available from the VolitionWatch Archives, http://archives.volitionwatch.com), which really does a great job on the atmosphere. My aim in creating this mission was to reproduce the landscape and ship placement in the cutscene as accurately as possible. I've positioned the various navbuoys to show the same camera angles as in the cutscene; two examples are included in the zip file. If you want to fly ahead and escort Ash back to the station, NavBuoy Gamma marks the spot where he jumps in. Have fun discovering the other spots, and if you see something you like or something you think I missed, be sure to let me know. :) [b]Mission Notes[/b] If you've already played through the first part of the mission and want to skip ahead to the action (or if you're just impatient) then you can do so by activating the Volition cheat codes and destroying NavBuoy Alpha. (Don't worry, that navbuoy doesn't show a particularly interesting camera angle.)
